This is a very dangerous argument to make. Of course, unnecessay infighting in the feminist movement in the past has had a drastic negative impact on the fight for women’s equality in the past (porn wars, anyone?), but those who pursue solidarity above all else are usually the same ones who tell groups historically and still presently marginalized by the feminist movement (women of color, trans women, low-income women, etc.) to stop complaining and get onboard with the party line.
This is the same argument used by manarchists, trans-exterminationist gays and lesbians, and all other fair-weather progressives who only see a worthwhile struggle when it is in their own self-interest.
Sisterhood means listening to and addressing the needs of all women, not just the most privileged among us. It is an ideal that must be strived for, not a buzzword for keeping marginalized women in their place.
Remember, the “good ol’ days” are always someone else’s nightmare.
